The two semifinals revolve between six major Bowl games, called “New Year`s Six”: The Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl.  In addition to the four teams selected for the playoffs, the latest PSC rankings will be used to determine the participants for the other four New Year`s Six-Bowls who will not host this year`s semifinals. Semifinals that take place on the same day are usually scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays or Mondays nearby or On New Year`s Day flexibly to ensure they are not at odds with other Bowl games that traditionally take place on New Year`s Day. The national championship match will then be played on the first Monday, six days or more after the semi-final.  One of the main proposals is that the playoffs be extended to an eight-size format that guarantees the five major conference champions a place at the same time as the best “Group of Five” champion. The remaining two places would be allocated to the two closest teams. The pairs of seeds would be ordered to fit the playoff format, with 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, etc.
The opening tournament was held at the end of the 2014 NCAA Division I football season and was won by the Ohio State Buckeyes, who beat the Oregon Ducks in the championship game.  After the first season, the playoffs were dominated for several years by two teams, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. They faced each other three times in the league game, and one more year they met in the semi-finals. “It was so exciting that the Oklahoma game was so exciting. … The most important factor will be the score. The College Football Playoff (CFP) is an annual knockout tournament for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which takes place at the highest level of college football competition in the United States. Four teams play in two semifinals, and the winner of each semifinal enters the national college football championship game.
 The Six-Bowl New Year games are part of the playoff rotation that helps subsidize the bowl editions of teams in fewer bowl games by providing services with all 10 conferences and independents in college football.
